The last date for application form submission is 25 May 2022. AILET will be conducted offline, and the tentative date for the same is 26 June 2022. It will be a 90 minutes test. After the process of the test is complete, the cutoff for the same will be released. Candidates can use this to check whether or not they can progress to the next level.

This article will provide you details of the AILET Cutoffs, the process to download the cutoffs, factors that affect the cutoffs, the cutoff of previous years, the expected cut-off, and other important related information.

AILET Cutoffs

The AILET cutoff is the minimum mark/ percentage that an aspirant has to obtain in the test to be considered as having qualified for the next stage in the process of admission. It is essential to understand that the passing mark and the cutoff mark are not the same things. Passing marks are lower than cutoff marks and do not guarantee admission.

Candidates need to score a minimum of 60 marks or 40% of the total marks of the Test to be eligible for admission. This percentage is 45 marks or 30% in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates. It is the University's prerogative to keep vacant seats in case no candidate achieves the minimum cutoff.

In case several candidates score an identical percentage in the Test, the following process will be used to determine their merit.

  1. Based on the marks (percentage) in the system of 10 2 in the Senior Secondary School Examination / Higher Secondary School or its equivalent recognized by the University.
  2. Based on the percentage of marks in the 10th-grade examination
  3. Preference will be given to the candidate older in age
  4. The draw of Lots.

The power and the authority to determine the AILET Admission Cutoff and the AILET Qualifying Cutoff rest with NLU Delhi.

A candidate must qualify according to the rule of the Admission Cutoff as well as the Qualifying Cutoff to get admitted to the programme that they desire in NLU, Delhi. Such candidates who make it to the Qualifying Cutoff and not to the Admission Cutoff get put on a waitlist for consideration at a later stage for such seats that remain vacant.  Cutoff scores for AILET shall be provided separately for the different candidate categories.

Factors Affecting AILET Cutoffs

The AILET cutoffs are always released after the process of the examination is complete. They vary from one year to the next. This is because the cutoff is dependent on various factors that change every year.   Given below are the factors that play a role in deciding the AILET cutoffs each year.

Number of seats announced for each program

The more the number of seats, the lower will be the cutoff. When there are fewer seats, the cutoff will be higher.

Number of Aspirants taking the examination

The higher the number of aspirants taking the examination, the higher the cutoff.   The lower the number of candidates taking the examination, the lower the cutoff.

Level of Difficulty of the Question Paper

The more difficult the question paper, the lower the cutoff. The lower the difficulty level of the question paper, the higher will be the cutoff.

Number stages in the Process of Admission

The more the number of stages involved in the process of admission, the lower will be the cutoff. The fewer the stages in the admission process, the higher will be the cutoff.

Average of the Examination Performance of the Aspirants

The higher the average performance of the candidates in the examination, the higher will be the cutoff. The lower average performance will lead to a lower cutoff.

Rules Associated with Seat Reservation

Generally, seats are reserved for specific categories of candidates. These rules decide what will be the cutoff for those categories.

Category to which the Candidate Belongs

Candidates belonging to the Open/ General category will usually have a higher cutoff than those candidates who belong to other categories, such as Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Persons with Disability.

Previous Year AILET Cutoffs

It is essential for all candidates appearing for the AILET to be aware of what the cutoff mark has been in the previous years so that they can make an educated guess of how many marks they must score on the test to have a fair chance of qualifying for the next stage – Counseling round.
