TNPSC (Public Service Commission of Tamil Nadu) conducts the Group II Examination annually to recruit different Civil Services posts in Tamil Nadu. The CCSE-II examination was conducted for different posts under Group 2 and Group 2 A, now merged as Group 2 exams. The commission is expected to release more than 1500 CCSE-II vacancies in the 2022 notification (expected sometime in February 2022). The selection process has three stages- Preliminary examination, Mains examination, and interview. TNPSC- Group 2 Examination will be conducted in 3 stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Mains Examination: This will have two papers: Paper I and Paper-II.
  3. Interview

TNPSC Group 2 Syllabus: Preliminary Examination 

  1. The TNPSC Preliminary examination will have 200 objective types MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions).
  2. The total marks of the examination are 300.
  3. The candidate can answer General Tamil or General English section which has 100 questions each.
  4. The general studies section has 75 questions, and 25 questions are from the test's aptitude & mental ability section.
  5. The time duration of the TNPSC Preliminary Examination is 3 hours (180 minutes).
  6. The minimum qualifying mark for the TNPSC Preliminary examination is 90.
  7. No negative marking is applicable.
  8. The General studies section has questions from the graduation level.
  9. The aptitude and Mental Ability test section have questions from the SSLC standard level.

TNPSC Group 2 Syllabus: Mains Examination 

The syllabus of the Main examination is given below.

  • It will have two papers: Paper I and Paper-II.
  • Paper I- Mandatory Tamil Eligibility Paper
  • Paper-II- General Studies
  • Paper I is for 100 marks. The time duration is 3 Hours (180 minutes).
  • Paper-II is for 300 marks, and the time duration is 3 hours (180 minutes).
  • Answer sheets of the candidates who do not obtain the minimum qualifying marks in Paper I will not be considered for evaluation of Paper-II.
  • The minimum marks in Paper 1 to qualify for the TNPSC Group 2 examination is 40.
  • The minimum marks in Paper 2 to qualify for the TNPSC Group 2 A examination is 90
  • TNPSC Group 2 examination is bilingual. The exam will be in both English and Tamil languages.

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission Group 2 Interview

The candidates will be interviewed by a commission who will have before them a record of their career. They will be asked questions on matters of general interest. Candidates can attend TNPSC interviews both in Tamil and English. There are no Minimum qualifying Marks in the interview. The interview is for 40 marks. The final selection is made after considering the marks for all three stages of the selection process.

After the merger, there will be TNPSC Group 2 Exam for the interview and non-interview posts. However, the syllabus of the two stages, the prelims, and the mains will be the same for both posts.
A new TNPSC Group 2 Exam syllabus has been announced in which there will be 100 questions for General Tamil / General English, 75 questions of General studies, and 25 questions of Aptitude and Mental Ability in the Prelims Exam.
